Jones to Beshear: “I Don’t Want People to Sleep on This Race”

Birmingham, AL – Doug Jones, the Alabama Democratic nominee for governor, joined Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear on The Andy Beshear Podcast to discuss the governor’s race, unchecked data center development and why Democrats can win statewide in Alabama.

“My first act is going to be to expand the eligibility for Medicaid because we didn’t do that, and that’s going to be number one right there,” Jones said. “But the second one right behind it, it’ll be on the desk at the same time, will be that one-year moratorium on data centers so that the state of Alabama can take the time to do it right.”

Jones also pointed to growing Democratic enthusiasm across the state, citing increased primary turnout and the large crowds attending campaign town halls.

“Democrats more than doubled the number of ballots that were cast from just four years ago. We outnumbered the Republican ballots in the five largest counties in Alabama,” Jones said. “We’re meeting folks where they are one on one. We’re doing one to two town halls a week, and we’re drawing huge crowds.”

“I don’t want people to sleep on this race because it is one that we can win,” Jones said.
